Wow sorry it’s been a month since my last post! We were traveling on our honeymoon for two weeks and I’ve been catching up ever since we got back (those posts will come soon- with LOTS of photos!)
I spent June rebuilding my base. After attending Bird Camp I realized I wasn’t running enough to get a good base and that adding speed work in wasn’t the best plan until I had that set. When I talked with Ryan (from Zap) he recommended upping my mileage over the next 5 weeks or so until I felt comfortable getting those runs in. So this is where June took me- I stuck to the every other day running with a shakeout run on Fridays and a long run on Saturdays and that was really working well. I was naturally getting a little faster as I comfortable with the mileage.
Well- then I went on vacation for 2 weeks in July and despite best efforts to get all my runs in I fell behind. Lots of rain, general travel fatigue and then jet lag when we got back sidelined me for about 2 weeks. But I jumped back in and started working back up to the longer runs as I closed out the month.
I’ve got a pretty big goal that I’m trying to beat down at Seawheeze in two weeks. The sub 2 hour half. I’m not sure I’m going to hit it but I am hopeful I’ll get a new PR out of the course.
I’ve got about 18 more miles to put in before the race and then we’re going to hope the weather, elevation and lack of hills and humidity will be in my favor.
Fingers crossed that when I check in next month I’ll have good news to report!
June: 93 Miles (a great month for me)
July: 66 Miles (vacation put a dent on my mileage but feeling strong toward the end)
