June 6, 2020 | Greensboro, NC | TIME: 17:00 | With no races on the horizon, coach asked if we’d like to do a race series to help with motivation. I was like – YES PLEASE.
I was doing a quarantine run streak but just kind of shuffling along- this would give me some motivation to get faster during this never-ending ‘off-season’.
Becki gave us choices for each race to help work on our speed for shorter distances and then endurance for those interested in going longer. I opted to start small with a 2 miler and finish with a half.
Summer running is hard. The heat. The humidity. The never-ending sweat. I knew this was going to be tough but it was nice to have a challenge!
My first race of the series was a 2 miler. Now I’d had a 2 mile time trial back in May that had gone ok. It was a distance I’d never raced before so automatic PR. I was hoping to beat that time and go under 17mins.
It was hot and humid but I eked out a small 10sec PR with a time of 17:00 flat. Didn’t break that mark but I know I will next time!
