Training Update

Well after suffering through two half marathons that I was so looking forward to, I’m finally taking a break from running. 

My hip kept acting up on me (probably because I never gave it enough rest). It’s hard to take a break when you’ve got races on your docket!! RNR Chicago was awful for me. The heat coupled with concrete roads and sidewalks- ugh. My feet were in the worst shape after this race and I was ridiculously dehydrated. I had about a month’s time span before Seawheeze and we were moving in to our new place in VA. I tried to take some time off but I couldn’t take much because again I had another 13 mile race to complete. :/ Luckily this race went much better because the weather was great and I was feeling better from rest. 

I’ve already planned in the future to run these both again to redeem myself. It WILL happen.

In the meantime, I’ve been sticking to upper body and core workouts as well as yoga and stretching. I figure I can get my upper half in shape while the lower heals! I’m alternating between my various Beachbody workouts- PiYo, 21Day Fix Extreme and P90x. There are a variety of workouts for upper body and core that I can do without getting bored. I hope to start going out for walks next week and by mid-September I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to run again without pain and without compromising my form. 

I’ve got big goals for next year!! I’d like to cross some bucket list races off as well as maybe try for a marathon!?! But we’ll see how it goes. First things first is to get better. I’ll let you know how things are going next month. πŸ™‚
