Michigan | June 29- July 1, 2012 | A double couple beer weekend with Caitlin and Kevin.
Michigan has a lot of craft breweries so I flew up to Ann Arbor and Jon and I drove to meet up with Caitlin and Kevin coming over from Chicago.
We started out in Grand Rapids grabbing lunch at the Green Well Pub. Delicious and highly recommended by Meghan. We then walked back over to Founder’s Brewery as our first big brewery stop on our adventure. We got a big sample tray of everything they had on tap. So many choices! We had a blast at stop number one and then walked along the river on our way back to the hotel.
Day 2 started out with a morning drive over to Holland and to the beach! We went to a state park where we walked through the woods and ended up on the beach. I got to swim in Lake Michigan. It was a little cold and weird to be swimming in fresh water but I was so glad to get a little beach time in. We played bocce and enjoyed being out in the sun. After checking into our hotel and showering we headed over to New Holland Brewery for dinner and more beer! I got a sample tray as well as some glasses to take home.
Final stop was in Kalamazoo for Bell’s Brewery. More samples in the shape of Michigan! We also had some tasty snacks and then wandered around Kalamazoo. Then we had to say goodbye and head out separate ways.
Such a great trip! Can’t wait to do more double or triple couple trips to other breweries!
