Chateau Morrisette

Floyd, VA | November 1, 2015 | As it was a gray day we opted to head to one of the local wineries instead of a hike. And we could bring Loki with us so Chateau Morrisette seemed like a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon. We had heard that their wines were pretty good and finding out that the allow dogs (and love them) seemed like the perfect answer to us for how to spend the day.

We loaded into the car for the 45 minute trip up onto the Blue Ridge Parkway and after a couple of missed turns pulled into the winery. Their restaurant was packed! Unfortunately no dogs there so we’ll have to try the food another day. We got out with Loki and wandered around the grounds for a bit making him more comfortable before we headed inside for a tasting. We got to try quite a few of their wines while Loki sampled the mountain water and made friends with the staff and other day tasters. After walking around the tasting room and grounds we opted to get a couple of glasses, snacks and a bottle of their Archival I Red to share out on their covered patio. Loki was happy to sit down and to be away from the kids that had entered the room. He’s not a big fan (something we’re hoping to work on) and gets scared when he sees them. But regardless we still had a nice time and it was fun to try a local spot for the day.

We’ll hopefully be back again soon!
