Asheville, NC | July 12, 2018 | We weren’t sure we’d be able to take time away from the twins to celebrate but thanks to my wonderful in-laws and some milk stash, Jon and I were able to get some time to ourselves for an afternoon away.
We headed to Asheville to see the Chihuly exhibit at the Biltmore first. [And I pumped in the car on the way there- a total first for me] Well, first we actually stopped by the winery on the property to start the celebrations 🙂 After a lovely wine tasting we headed back to the main grounds to wander around. The exhibition was mainly outside – so after lots of walking (and sweating) we were happy to head into the house to see a few pieces there as well. It was beautiful! I had always heard how amazing Chihuly’s work is but had only seen a ceiling in a Vegas casino. It was really nice to see more of his work.
We had a really nice time at Biltmore but dragged our sweaty selves back to the car for another pumping session for me before we headed to our dinner at Curate. Now- we had heard wonderful things about this restaurant and I was able to get us an early dinner session (4:30!) so we could make it back to get the twins into bed. We started with a nice red wine and bruschetta and manchego cheese. Delish. Then on to the Patatas Bravas (a MUST for me at tapas places) and a giant prawn for Jon. He then had muscles while I had a nice salad. (Got get some greens in!) And then we had the pièce de résistance – Iberico Skirt Steak. AMAZING. So worth it. I forgot to take a photo it was so good. 😀 And then of course to close we had to get dessert so we got two 🙂 a cheesecake and a chocolate torte. Both were delightful- I think the cheesecake won. It was a wonderful meal!! And then our server surprised us with chocolate covered cherry popsicles. YES.
A wonderful 4th Anniversary with the only person I can imagine going through this life with. Love you J.
